Boars Head Recalls 200,000 Pounds of Deli Meats
Sliced Meats at Deli Counters Affected
Prepackaged Meats Not Included
Boars Head Provisions Co. Inc., a popular producer of deli products including meat and cheese, has issued a recall for more than 200,000 pounds of deli meats. The recall applies to meats sliced at a deli counter, not prepackaged meats.
The recall includes a number of products stamped with an August 10 sell-by date, including bologna, garlic bologna, and beef bologna. The affected meats were shipped nationwide.
The recall was issued after the company discovered that the affected meats may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious infections in people with weakened immune systems.
Consumers who have purchased the affected meats are urged to return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Boars Head Provisions Co. Inc. at 1-800-352-4075.
