Former Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons Center Joins New Team
Contract Details: One Year, $3.2 Million
Former NBA center Nerlens Noel has officially signed a one-year, $3.2 million contract with the Sacramento Kings, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 29-year-old center had previously been a free agent after playing for the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons during the 2022-23 season.
Career History
Noel was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft. He spent four seasons with the 76ers before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2017. Noel has since played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, and Nets.
Throughout his career, Noel has averaged 7.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He is known as a strong defender and rebounder, with a career average of 1.1 blocks per game.
Sacramento Kings Outlook
The Kings have been looking to add depth to their frontcourt, and Noel provides them with a versatile and experienced option. He is expected to play behind starting center Domantas Sabonis, but could see significant playing time in a reserve role.
Noel's signing should help the Kings improve their defense and rebounding, as he is known for his physicality and ability to contest shots.
