Luzon Grid Red Alert

Luzon Grid Placed on Red Alert

First Alert of the Year

NGCP Declares Peak Demand Concerns

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced that the Luzon grid has been placed on red alert. This is the first alert of the year for the Luzon grid, which has been experiencing high demand for electricity. The red alert was declared at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 31st.

A red alert indicates that there is not enough electricity available to meet the demand. This can lead to power outages or brownouts. NGCP has urged consumers to conserve electricity in order to avoid outages. The grid has an available capacity of 13,537 MW and a peak demand of 13,024 MW.

Consumers can conserve electricity by turning off lights when they leave a room, unplugging appliances when they are not in use, and setting their air conditioners to higher temperatures. NGCP also recommends that businesses reduce their energy consumption by adjusting their operating hours or using more efficient equipment.
